    You do an amazing job explaining how to read a crochet pattern, even as fas as posting the instructions on the screen as you go. As a young girl of seven, my aunt sitting crocheting outside in our communal yard caught my interest. She spoke Spanish only. So she wasn’t able to teach me. I used to play outside after school. I’d stop and sit for hours watching as she crochet while at the same time chewing her favorite gum. She’d say to me in Spanish while popping her gum, “Asi”, meaning, “Like this.” One day as I approached her crocheting outside, she handed me a small scrap ball of yarn with a crochet hook in it. From memory, I began crocheting my own chain. This was long before instructional videos and having my own money to buy an instructional book on how to crochet. There was no one to explain to me what the instructions meant. I had no idea what the stitches were called. Gosh, long story I shall shorten. I came across your video while searching for some new crochet ideas. I am now an advanced crocheter, so I don’t require explanations, unless I am starting an advanced large project. Thank you for taking the time to help others who are barely learning to crochet. You are an asset to the crocheting community.

    I’m just wondering if you would have the same issue if using on something that you had started and only used that hook for since it seems that the “bump” would slightly change the size of the hook and stitches and that is why there is a slight issue with the piece you already had started with the hook without the “bump” since those stitches would (or at least in my thinking) be slightly smaller. I would be interested in seeing if this makes any type of difference or not any difference at all. Maybe this is something you could maybe test out doing a video starting out a small sample with the Temu hook to see that makes any difference or not. Anyway you just got a new subscriber here.

    I won't need to buy more crochet hooks for quite a while (duplicates in multiple sizes and aluminum vs. bamboo vs. wood, etc.), so I guess I'm safe from the temptation to try Temu hooks for now.

    Thanks for reviewing these.. I've purchased a few sets of hooks from Temu, and for the most part, I found them to be adequate. I have been crocheting since I was a child, and I'm 76 now, so I have some favorites of my own. For the most part, beginners could use them to learn before progressing to better hooks. It's a good way to start and see if crochet is something they want to do without any large investment. Those hooks you got weren't anything I wanted to try because they didn't appeal to me and looked too clumsy to hold, so I passed them by. I'll stick to Prym or Susan Bates and occasionally Boye if necessary. I'm flexible and enjoy switching up occasionally. Maybe it helps to keep the arthritis from setting in by doing that! Anyway, thanks again for the review. 💕💕💕

    The portable yarn holder is a great idea, but the material in the one you got catches on the yarn quite a bit. There are acrylic ones that work so much nicer. The do have a tendency to get a little hung on the swivel, but a quick pull and you are good to go again. The magnet yarn holder is freaking amazing! It is my favorite yarn holder. It spins well, but it doesn't really like big skeins or cakes. Plus, it's gorgeous.

  • @evacrockett
    @evacrockett 3 месяца назад

    After reading the band directions, the way they explain it, is actually a double crochet. Not a half double. This book was originally written in German. I’m wondering if there are translations errors in American stitches vs European. This would definitely cause issues.

  • @evacrockett
    @evacrockett 3 месяца назад

    Seriously disappointed in this book. Bought it for this pattern. You are on point. It’s terribly written. Anytime there is an insane “special stitch” there needs to be associated pictures. The explanation in the chart key is terrible. The wording is ridiculous and confusing. I write my own patterns including charts and this is the pits. Total waste of money.

    I bought Simib "2pcs Rainbow Icelandic Wool Yarn 100% Wool Gradient Multi-color Yarn For Hand Knitting Crocheting Sweater 180m/pc 50g/pc". Havnt knitted with it yet but it seems really nice. Also other crafting items to make my own stitch markers etc. I was happy with my purchases. I hate that Temu descriptions are so bad. Might be cause it was translated from Chinese? I find the lack of yarn thickness the most frustrating. Most of the 100% wool yarns are more expensive than what I can get locally.

  • @vivianlaw13
    @vivianlaw13 3 месяца назад

    Temu is basically buying direct from the manufacturers in China, so if you don't mind buying China made, then this is a great place to find deals on things you already get but just cutting out the middle man and retailer. That's why a lot of the products are decent quality, they already went through the QC but to maximize profit the manufacturer is selling direct to consumer. I think this is also due to companies are moving to cheaper countries as China is getting more expensive to produce.

    Thank you for making this video... With the cashmere yarn, the thread that comes with it, you're suppose to knit it with the yarn so it gives your knitting structure. I buy cashmere from a Mongolian company and it always comes with the extra thread. You don't have to use it if you don't want to.

    The prices on Temu went up a lot in the last year. I was trying to buy the same bday decorations as in 2022 and the price increased from $0.79 to $7.98 per item. Also I bought the granny square blocking board for $14.99 on Amazon last week. Considering poor description on some items sold on Temu, it may not be worth it to take your chances unless the price is unbelievably low. Thank you for the review!
